Used Ultrasound Listings and History

The first published work on medical ultrasonics was submitted to the worldwide medical community by Dr. Karl Theodore Dussik of Austria. His work on the transmission ultrasound and investigation of the brain initiated the published dialogue on this new diagnostic tool in 1942, and following that, a number of scientists worldwide pioneered the technology.

Those physicians, technicians, diagnosticians and other medical professionals who scan our used ultrasound listings can thank these individuals for this technology that has made such a great impact in medicine.

Dr. Ian Donald, who observed the use of radar and echo technology during the Second World War, is credited with developing the contact ultrasound scanner in the 1950s, where it was applied for use in fetal examinations with successes catalyzing more widespread experimentation and use. With the advancement of electronics and piezoelectric technologies, imaging evolved from bistable to greyscale and from still to moving imagery. It was the fusing of Doppler ultrasound and imaging technologies that furthered its applications and, finally, the incorporation of color capabilities in the imaging that made this tool useful in cardiovascular and internal diagnosis.

The microchip pushed the technology even further in the 1970s, speeding processing and allowing for the use of digital beam forming, a wider range of interpretation and greater signal enhancement.

Thus, we have the 3D and Doppler imaging available today in our used ultrasound. Sale equipment and new equipment alike provide a sophisticated system to the full range of medical practices thanks to the work of scientists and doctors over the past 60+ years.
