AMA has published the new Category III code for laser ablation of benign thyroid nodules. The CPT code is 0673T. Code descriptor is available on page 14 of this link from AMA.
Please note, while the table shows the effective date as Jan 2022, a statement at the beginning of the table explains that these new Category III codes are effective July 1, 2021. So Echolaser users can now bill with CPT 0673T. Laser ablation is an emerging treatment option in USA, recognized in the AACE (Americal Association of Clinical Endocrinology) guidelines. While in the United States, surgery and PEI (percutaneous ethanol injection) are still largely adopted treatments, ablation techniques are rapidly growing.
National Ultrasound is the exclusive distributor in USA of EchoLaser, a laser based ablation system broadly used internationally by leading endocrinologists. EchoLaser can brag a robust clinical evidence and a ever growing number of publications, confirming its efficacy, safety and long term low regrowth rate. Learn more about EchoLaser at the NASOIE’s upcoming webinar on July 24th 11AM EST. Find out more about the event’s program and speakers and register for free, here.
