EchoLaser allows, through the percutaneous insertion of two to four small transducer needles, treatment of the prostate without any contact with the urinary system structures. This system employs optical fibers to transmit laser light which heats tissue to be treated, producing the so-called “coagulative necrosis effect” thus allowing the eradication of the pathology.
The short duration of the procedure, which can be completed in about 10 minutes has the ability to address only a small well defined area of the prostate. EchoLaser offers several advantages such as ejaculation preservation, the possibility to remove the catheter in just a few hours after the procedure, preservation of erectile function, and preservation of continence for 100% of treated patients.
In addition to urological pathologies, EchoLaser can also be employed for a wide range of clinical applications such as the management of Benign Thyroid Nodules, Liver cancer, and other pathologies allowing us to foresee increased employment of this system in the near future.
